Hi! We’re Chelsea and Zach, and we run the Love From Our Backyard website. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to share some of our passion with you. Hopefully, our content will inspire you to try some home farming and pet raising yourself.
About Chelsea
All four sides of my childhood home were surrounded by farm fields. We kept ducks and rabbits and dogs and all kinds of animals growing up. I just can’t imagine having a home and children without a bunch of critters running around the yard too!
My dad is a machinist by trade, but a hobby gardener at heart. Every spring we worked together to build a bountiful garden that kept us fed with fresh goods all summer and fall. We eat good at our house!
This love of the land has always sparked something in me that gets me excited about having a home. While my job isn’t in this field, I love coming home and waking up to putter around my backyard and make it something special.
About Chelsea
Growing up, my family never had much to do with farming or keeping animals; they were all carpenters. However, I’ve always been captivated by the idea of growing and building land that provides for us.
In fact, one of my science projects was how well ferns grow when using different types of water. I thought it was fascinating (though I did lose to the kid who’s college professor dad helped him make a hoverboard #stillnotbitter).
As an adult and mother, I want to explore gardening, planting, and raising animals to help provide fresh food and a sense of responsibility for my kids.
About Our Family
We met in college and got married in 2011. It took us a while to get to the house we wanted to spend the rest of our lives in (and with three crazy boys coming along the way), but in 2020 we made it.
Now, we have the home and the land we want to build the life we want. On this site, we’ll explore rabbits, chickens, ducks, gardening, and much more on a small-ish chunk of land and share how we make the most of our backyard.
